Indonesian Language & Cultural Fest 2026: Experience Indonesia Through Language, Culture, Food, Art, and Creativity

BINUS University’s Digital Language Learning Center (DLLC) and Faculty of Humanities invite international students to explore the richness of Indonesian language and culture through an engaging, interactive, and immersive cultural experience.

Indonesia is home to a rich cultural heritage, diverse culinary traditions, unique traditional games, and vibrant artistic expressions. To celebrate this diversity, the Digital Language Learning Center (DLLC) and Faculty of Humanities at BINUS University proudly present the Indonesian Language & Cultural Fest 2026, a two-day event designed to introduce international participants to the beauty of Indonesia through hands-on cultural activities.

The event will take place on 26–27 October 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM WIB, at the Atrium Lobby, 1st Floor, BINUS JWC Campus.

Discover the Joy of Indonesian Language and Culture

The Indonesian Language & Cultural Fest offers an opportunity for international students to experience Indonesian culture beyond the classroom. Through interactive activities, participants can discover local traditions, explore Indonesian expressions, enjoy traditional refreshments, and engage in activities that bring language and culture to life.

Visitors can explore a variety of cultural experiences, including traditional Indonesian games such as Congklak, Kelereng (marbles), Ular Tangga (Snakes and Ladders), and Lompat Karet (traditional rubber-band jumping). Participants can also explore Indonesian language flashcards while discovering how language connects people to everyday life and cultural traditions.

Food and beverages are also an essential part of the experience. Participants can enjoy traditional Indonesian snacks and refreshing drinks, including Bir Pletok, a traditional Betawi herbal beverage known for its distinctive spices and warming flavor.

Join the Batik Workshop and Enjoy a Special Benefit

One of the highlights of the event is the Batik Workshop, where participants can explore Indonesia’s traditional textile art through a creative, hands-on experience.

The workshop will be conducted in English, making it accessible to international participants who want to learn about Indonesian batik traditions while developing their creativity.

Two workshop sessions will be available each day:

  • Session 1: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
  • Session 2: 1:00 PM–3:00 PM

As a special benefit, participants can get a Free BIPA Trial Class, offering an opportunity to experience Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA), or Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages. Through BIPA, international learners can begin exploring the Indonesian language and gain a deeper understanding of the culture in which it is used.

Please note that workshop slots are limited.

Through the BIPA (Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages) program, international learners have the opportunity to experience the Indonesian language in meaningful, engaging, and real-life contexts while exploring the country’s rich cultural heritage.

By integrating language learning with cultural experiences, BIPA at BINUS makes the learning process more interactive, enjoyable, and relevant to everyday communication. Learners can develop their Indonesian language skills while discovering local traditions, experiencing Indonesian cuisine, participating in traditional games, exploring arts and crafts, and engaging with the cultural practices that shape everyday life in Indonesia.

This immersive approach helps learners connect what they learn in the classroom with real-world experiences, making it easier to understand not only how Bahasa Indonesia is used, but also the cultural context behind the language.

With BIPA at BINUS, learning a language becomes more than studying words and sentences—it becomes an exciting journey of cultural discovery, meaningful interaction, and authentic experiences.

Whether you are learning Bahasa Indonesia for daily communication, academic purposes, or a deeper appreciation of Indonesian culture, BIPA at BINUS offers an engaging way to learn the language while experiencing Indonesia firsthand.
