[ARTICLE] Understanding Journey in Beelingua
Hello Binusians!
Did you know that Beelingua, the digital language‑learning platform at BINUS University, structures its learning paths into three distinct “journeys” based on your initial placement test (BUEPT) score? Each journey tailors your course experience to your proficiency level and academic goals.
Journey A – Rookie
Assigned to students scoring under 437 on the BUEPT, Journey A includes eight English courses spanning levels A1.1 to B2.2. The path focuses on building foundational skills across grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking (where applicable), and writing, with structured checkpoints and gamified elements to maintain motivation.
Journey B – Explorer
For those scoring between 437 and 520, Journey B covers more advanced English content: independent and professional English courses from B1.1 to C2.2. It accelerates language development by focusing on nuanced grammar, higher-level vocabulary, and refined fluency.
Journey C – Maverick
Suited to the most proficient learners (BUEPT > 520), Journey C offers four upper‑level English courses (C1.1–C2.2), plus four basic courses in either Chinese or Japanese (A1.1–A2.2). This blended path is ideal for students in language-related majors or those seeking multilingual competence.
Despite their differences, all journeys share key features: alignment with CEFR levels, a personalized and gamified learning framework, multi‑skill exercises (reading, listening, speaking, writing), and multimedia materials. Completion requires passing a mastery score of at least 66 per module to receive certification, typically before your Enrichment semester.
In essence, the choice of journey ensures that each Beelingua learner follows a path suited to their current abilities and goals. Whether you’re a Rookie building strong basics, an Explorer refining your fluency, or a Maverick mastering multiple languages, Beelingua guides your learning journey with structure, engagement, and real‑world relevance.
